From crates to clicks:
bringing vinyl online
Mobile-Optimised Shopify Store for Record Collectors
When vinyl entrepreneur Spencer got in touch, he had just recently opened his new shop in Hampshire – a haven for record collectors, crate diggers, and music lovers. He needed help with setting up a website, which needed to be easy to manage, mobile-friendly and could grow with the business.
We worked closely with Spencer to design and build a Shopify e-commerce website that reflected his passion for music and his growing collection of over 5,000 records – from Oasis to obscure jazz pressings. The design complements his brand identity – a fun, retro tone with bold colours and at the same time provides accessible layouts with a clean theme that keeps the focus on sales.

OUR APPROACH
After finding a suitable Shopify starter theme, we started by uploading the logo, then applied the brand fonts and colour palette to give the website instant personality and brand identity.
The store was structured with clear product collections including New Vinyl, Pre-Loved Records and user-friendly categories like New and Sealed and Legends. To make crate-digging online as intuitive as it is in-store, we added powerful filtering options by artist and genre. From there, we built a Shopify site that balances character and clarity, making it easy for customers to browse, buy and fall in love with vinyl all over again.
SHOPIFY DEVELOPMENT
We configured and tested PayPal Business integration, ensured a smooth checkout process, and set up flat-rate UK shipping with automated email notifications. Newsletter sign-up and contact forms were built in to support ongoing marketing and customer engagement.
Beyond the build, we provided content support, blog setup, domain configuration, and email set-up and integration. A one-to-one training session was delivered to walk through the Shopify admin, giving Spencer and his team the knowledge to manage and update the site themselves, with Zebedee on hand for ongoing support as the shop grows. Spencer has now got an e-commerce site, with the potential to sell all over the UK and even internationally, that’s ready to scale as his business grows.
The outcome:
a platform to grow with
With the site now live and Spencer hitting the road for record fairs across the UK, the new Shopify store acts as a central hub for his growing community of vinyl lovers and customers. Whether visitors are browsing the latest arrivals online or checking where to catch Spencer in person, the website offers a seamless experience that brings the spirit of Spencer’s Record Barn to life. The result? A great Shopify website design to support both direct sales and marketing. Discover more Shopify and ecommerce web design projects from our portfolio.
