with Umbraco CMS
The Institute for Criminal Policy Research carries out multidisciplinary research into crime and the criminal justice system, providing politicians, academics and the wider public with valuable publications and reports. They needed a web design agency to create a new website which could hold all their text-rich content without being overwhelming, and difficult to read and navigate. The previous website was hard to update – a simple content management system, for instant hands-on control was essential. We chose Umbraco CMS.
A crafted design with
use of colour and graphics
The existing logo set the tone and provided the basis of a new colour palette. Together with graphical blocks of colour and neutral tones, this formed a well-ordered structure around vast amounts of content creating a whole new online identity with a great new web design. Implementing the umbracoExamine web site search engine allowed us to index almost all the content with very little effort.
Our front end experts used jQuery to reveal nifty layers of text, a clever way to keep a wordy page clean without losing the content. And our trusty friend umbraco (with a little bit of expert C# wizardry) handled the team profiles, while at the same time related researchers to their corresponding publications.
