Getting an e-commerce web design off the ground

The popularity of online shopping just keeps on growing: in fact, a study in 2013 showed the online sector growing a massive 57 times faster than the economy as whole.

Founded over 50 years ago, Kimbo is now a leader in the Italian market and exports to many other countries. Needing an e-commerce web site, their UK office asked Zebedee to design a cost-effective online shop that would support the brand while providing an additional channel for communication and sales.

The site needed to be user-friendly and deliver a seamless customer experience, with all the ecommerce website admin and functionality to run a successful online shop. Kimbo also wanted to provide discounts and coupons with specific date ranges to help support campaigns, generate customer loyalty and encourage repeat sales.

A blend of e-commerce essentials

We handled the configuration for product type, title, collection and images, and set up the categories and site structure, with taxes and shipping set up on a weight-based or price-based rate. Checkout and payment are handled by PayPal, so we supported the whole process of creating the PayPal business account from start to finish.

We tested and ensured all email notifications are sent to both Kimbo and the customer, such as such as order confirmations, shipping confirmation and cancelled orders notifications. Finally we helped with setting up subdomain/new domain names and taking the web site live.

An online shop full of beans

It’s vital for any e-commerce site to look tempting, easy to use and safe. This carries the customer irresistibly from interest to selection to purchase.

Kimbo’s beautiful new web site not only looks the part but does the job.

"...We get almost daily sales enquiries from the website which is just fantastic, I recommend them strongly they are a rare breed of talent, energy, vision and value..."
